Williams True Blast II Horn
Posted by PhrozenAce on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 7:31 PM

Hello Forum,

Can anyone tell me if the volume on Williams O Gauge diesel engines can be adjusted?  If it can, is it a simple process and how would I do it.

Thanks,

Bernard

Perhaps this link will get you started. It includes an almost-clear photo.

I tried adjusting that pot on my GG1 and it acts more like an on/off switch than a pot. If I adjust the pot to either stop, the sound is barely audible. If I adjust the pot just off either stop, the horn goes to full volume and remains at full volume until I go to either stop. There are no intermediate volume steps. Other folks have apparently had better luck.

What Earl says is true for the new True Blast horns sold by Bachmann under the Williams name. If it is the older Williams only(before Bachmann bought Williams) than you can adjust the volume by doing the procedure mentioned in the OGR ad-in posting. At least this is what I have found to be so.
