mth ps2

My MTH SantaFe E3 AA diesel with PS2 always starts moving very very slowly.  I operate in conventional mode but the locomotive speed does not respond directly to the transformer voltage.  Is PS2 doing this and is there any way deactivating this so it's speed matches the transformer voltage.  Any ideas?

You can disable the speed control when the loco starts up. The procedures are in your owners manual. It involves the bell/horn/whistle buttons. http://www.protosound2.com/protosound2/proto2_op_instr.htm scroll down to paragraph on speed control for specifics
