Toy train Races

Has anybody here heard of racing toy trains? here is a link to an article from last year

http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/content.detail/id/503359.html

I remember my dad taking me once or twice when I was little.

I took my son a couple of times about 20 years ago. It wasn't as well attended  as when I was young. Then the date started to conflict with our annual trip to the PA Farm Show. I saw an ad in the paper this year and took my grand kids. At 2 and 4 years old they weren't impressed. there were adult and youth classes for O and HO. 12 or 14 in each

For the O gauge races they have two approximately 10 X 20 foot ovals. The first train( a locomotive and two cars) to complete five laps wins. I did see a few crashes.

For HO it is a 4 x8 oval same scenario but ten laps.

Just curious to see if this goes on any where else.

They hold sprint races at the TCA shows around here--no curves.
