I'm just re-reading Joe Algozzini and Jim Sattler's article in the October 2009 CTT issue wherein they have an interesting sentence in the second column on page 72: "By then the AAR plastic side frames were indented on one or both of the trucks." It's probably an easy answer, but what are they talking about? What is an indented side frame? What were they before? If anybody can help, I'd appreciate learning. Thanks.
The last Lionel Corp. AAR trucks were modified slightly so that when viewed upside down/inverted, the ends of the axles are clearly visible going into the side frames.
