It's not my fault this place is friendly (I don't post enough to affect the mood) . I just wanted to say that your avatar is really neat. Can you post a larger version?

Welcome to the forum, yes it's much quieter here and not everyone agrees about things but it usually stays civil. The most excitement that happens here is when someone drops in starts something and then drops out of site again.  Welcome Oh don't eat the grits.

magicmagic photos' mce_src='magic photos'>Smile

hello Ralph, glad you like the avatar I chose it because it reminds me of being a kid in the 50's and the excitement of Christmas and lionel trains and the great indestructable tonka trucks. on a side note I remember a show that the main character had a sawed off shotgun and a toy manufacturer made one and it shot plastic bullets oh how I wanted one! Christmas morning there it was went outside shot it once it jamed and that was it broken then found a lasting fun toy under the tree a lionel 622 diesel switcher no cars a flashing rr crossing sign a long bridge a signal bridge and about a 10' long oval of track it lasted a lot longer than the gun did !! okay I tried posting this pic and did accomplish it but for some reson I get 2 pics did I do something wrong?

I like the picture also. I remember wanting these for our christmas cards that year but was over ruled. We ended up with kittens playing in the snow or something like that.I was told I liked those better.I knew better than to argue.

I seem to be having a problem only posting one copy of each photo am using photo bucket not sure where I'm going wrong it would be so much easier to copy and paste from my pictures any ideas as to what I maybe doing wrong? also how does one delete a post here have one below I seen when you first post it gives you an option to delete but after you post it that seems to disappear.

CB&Q,

No apology needed.

All of your pictures are worthy of posting twice, as they're very joyous, colorful and fun to look at.
I enjoy trains of all types whether ther're real, or in model form.
My love of trains started from my father's set and when the family took rides to see real trains in operation.

For Christmas of 1950 two of my Maternal Aunts ordered from Santa a Lionel Scout set for each of the four oldest male children in the family.
My brother and I we were happy to have our own train set, so we can play with them as long as we liked.  I also liked guns, especially cowboy types, but as I got older, I found that the trains lasted longer and were more fun, than the guns.

Thank You,

Ralph

CB&Q,

This would be a great thread to post just after Thanksgiving.  With all those Santa cards and all, people would really get into the train and holiday mood.  A BIG CONGA on your pics.

It is always nice here because being not nice is not allowed by either the moderators or the frequent posters.

In Industrial Behavior, the concept is called "group think".  If you disagree with the prevailing thought processes you will be ridiculed into silence and then marginalized by those who disagree with you until the thread is deleted.

A great way to get your thread deleted is to complain about anything that appears in CTT.

Take your prozac and keep smiling.Big Smile

Little Tommy, no what I mean is if you ask an honest question and then get hammered from fellow posters as being tired of reading the topic asked about and the person is new to hobby shouldn't he or she be given the info and not the were all so tired of this attitude. this is why I left other forum as it seems biased unless your part of the main crowd.

so let me ask you all here the term lashup in train modeling as in our world we play with trains which are in real terms toys so why would someone get upset at that term as opposed to saying MU'ed we after all are not running real trains so what the heck is the big deal on that term?

personally I play with toy trains and enjoy them as intended and even the big 2 train companies use the term lashup so does that mean they can't use the term either?

only reason threads get deleted is becuase we need to say things in a civil manner we live in a society where we can agree to disagree in a civil and curtious way wouldn't you all agree to that statement?

so what do you all think on the term lashup a problem with or no big a deal.

Gosh, I wasn't aware that anyone would get hammered for using a certain type of terminology.

In that respect, this board is very civil.  I have found my questions get good answers and most of the posters, if they qubble about words, point out why some terminology adds more clarity than other phrases.

However, I did have a thread deletedSoapBox because I dared to say that CTT shouldn't have published a column in which the columinist/writer suggested that a whole class of toy train operators/collectors were uncivil and "wrong thinking". In a sense, the moderators confirmed my point, in that pointing out that said column was devisive created devisiveness on the board, and that we just shouldn't go there.

In any case, this is not the board to point out controversies or question editorial decisions at CTT, but is is a great place to get information, see photos of great layouts and get new ideas to incorporate on your layout.Angel

cpsteamer, now thats a clock just think of the layout we could have if we had half of the [defecit ] sp mind boggling we know our limits on spending yet the leaders don't get it! a cool morning here in southwest desert I know most in snow belt areas aren't looking forward to the cold, but then that means more time for trains a good trade off I'd say.
