The pantograph Williams GG1seems to fall off if I just look at it cross-wise. If I barely touch them, they often pop off. I have now lost two of the insulators from the numerous times they have fallen off. Is there a better way to keep them on?
They are also quite difficult to put on. Does anyone have an easier way to reinstall the pantographs.

Earl,
I'll try to explain this, as best as I can. I have a Williams GG1 also. I kept knocking off the pantographs in a tunnel that was too low. I found that there is a spring on the underside of the pantograph, that has to go on the outside of the round metal mounting pin, on the cab. The pantograph will fall off easily, if the spring is over the top of the pin. There is a ridge on the top edge, of the mounting pin, to hold the spring in place.
Also, I called Williams ( before Bachman ), and they sent me a free set of insulators. Hope this helps you.

Chuck,
Thank you for your reply. I am getting the spring in the groove, but the pantographs still fall off very easily. The difficulty is trying to get all four of the insulators to stay in place while dragging the pantograph across the center support to engage the spring.
I had the same problem and tried switching the front to back/back to front and that helped don't know way.
Here's a good way to hold the insulators in place that will not damage the engine.Put a small drop of Elmers white glue on the bottom of the insulator and let it dry.The insulator will stay in place when you install the pantograph. This will not make the pantograph stay on any better but it will install easier. The white glue will come off without damaging the finish if need be,

The dragging approach didn't work for me either but simply centering the pantograph over the hole and pushing straight down does. The spring will slip into the groove. I had a few insulators fall off as well and reattached them with super glue. No problems with them simply falling off though.
