Wiring Layout
Posted by traindood on Thursday, July 16, 2009 9:54 AM
I intend to wire my layout myself; however I need some help in putting all of the pieces together ie: TMCC with conventional control and the usual lionel accessories and control components such as 2 modern ZW's, ASC controllers, block controllers and Cab-1. I have a modest layout approx 12'X15'. I have Pete Riddel's wiring book and the command control book but I just need some guidance on how to put it all together. Im a hands on guy that likes to do things myself.

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

For the most part, you have all you need.  With TMCC, it is just a matter of hooking it into a layout wired like the old days.  With DCS, if you think some day you may go for that, you may want to go with "star" wiring.  If that is a possibility, now is the time to do it.  If not, don't worry about it.  A few things though.  you should have a ground wire between levels and when the track goes through anything metal like a bridge, or 497 coal loader.  You could easily go with buss wiring for your feeds.
