O Gauge Standards
Posted by Big Walnut Railroader on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 6:46 PM

I was searching around Modelfair.com and saw some things in their descriptions that I had never seen before. They used the terms Course Standard and Fine Standard to describe the wheel sets of engines and cars. Course Standard was used on Ace Trains and Bassett Lowke products, so I guess that Lionel, MTH, etc. are of Course Standard as well. But other than that I'm not sure about the differences between the two. So for those who have heard of these terms: What is the difference between Course and Fine Standard? Can one Standard be used on anther? And can the two be used on 3-rail track? Or is one used for 2-rail?

Just thought I'd ask because these terms seem completely new to me.
Here's the link to Modelfair.com: http://modelfair.com/
And I found this link that touches on the two Standards: http://www.gauge0guild.com/whatis.asp.
