New Focus on Classics Exclusive
Posted by Roger Carp on Thursday, July 9, 2009 11:05 AM
Regular readers of ClassicToyTrains.com should be aware that we have posted some new "My Greatest Find" stories as well as a brand-new exclusive story on how Lionel Standard gauge trains were used in one of the most important trials of the 20th century. This story, like the ones I wrote about Lionel's postwar Western Pacific F3s and the Thunderbird Train Master freight set from 1954, are available only on our Web site--nowhere else!

You may recall how, in the February 2009 issue, I explained why I thought that Lionel's no. 2333 F3 diesels (more the Santa Fe than the New York Central models) really launched the post-World War II era at the world's greatest toy train maker. Well, that got me thinking about when that era ended--what represented the close of the postwar period at Lionel? I'll be sharing my thoughts in early August with another new exclusive article that looks at the last truly original locomotive developed in the postwar years.

If you like what I'm doing on our expanded Web site, please add your comments and start a post on our Forum.

Also, if there are subjects you would like me to write about on our Web site, please let me know and I'll do my best to cover the trains, sets, accessories, and more that interest you.

Thanks for supporting "Classic Toy Trains."
