022 Switches!!
Posted by lionel2 on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 4:37 PM

What is a good price to pay for a pair of 022 switches from a private seller??  Someone I know is selling a lot of 022 switches, maybe 12 pairs.  And I am in need of 2 pairs of 022 switches.  I have not bought 022 switches in a while.  Just wanted to know what they are going for now a days.  He has them in boxes in excellent condition, with lanterns, plugs, bulbs and controllers which have been all rewired and they all work just fine.  Last time I bought switches they were about $45 to $50 a pair.  Are they cheaper or more expensive now??  I seen them sell on ebay for over $40 + Shipping = $50/pair.  Thanks.

I have purchased 022 switches, complete, for $35.00 each.  This was about 3 years ago. Make sure that the " non-derailing" feature works.

These were purchased from Nick's Trains.

So I guess I would be getting a deal if I were to buy a pair for $40.  Looks like I have to dish out about $80 for 2 pairs of switches that I need for my expansion part of the layout.  I will be adding my 182 crane to that addition as well as 114, 118 and 128 newsstands, and 455 oil derrick, and last a 462 derrick platform.  I would need a 5th Z transformer to make it all work of course.  That is 7 transformers I have powering my layout for this christmas.  5 Z's, 1 KW and 1 ZW.  WOW!!  I just hope i can find a power strip with 7 outlets on it.  I think I have one on my TV set.  Have to swap that one out and put a 6 outlet one on the TV and use the 7 outlet one for the trains.  My basement will be packed with trains come october 15th or so.  I am also extending my elevated train onto the addition I am adding to my layout.  My 404 and 400 budd cars will run that line. My addition is just a small freight yard.  The piece of wood i am adding is 3x4.  Just enough for 3 switches and a small freight yard for some engines and what not.  This addition is all funded by the (3) 2526 heavyeweight cars I sold.  Tell you one thing I got more that $350 for all 3.  With the money I got from the 3 cars I was able to buy a 182, 114, 118, 128, 462, Z, 2 pairs of 022 switches, and a 455 oil derrick.  Probably spent about  $1,000 for all this stuff.  I still had some money to spare.  But, those heavyweight cars, I have not used them in 10 years.  Glad they went to a good home where someone can use them.  Well, you lose one you buy one.  Thats the way I look at the matter.  Man, father's day is comming up soon, my dad wants a Black Lettered 60 Trolley boxed...Humm.  Well, gotta go.  Thanks for all the help.
