The beast knows that Judd walks weak on a broken leg (see cast on leg) and figures him for an easy target as the sun begins to set. The beast prowls at full speed from the Gasping Desert and leaps the tracks, the tender, and the waterwheel only to be unpleasantly surprised and to realize that he has been tricked! With a 30’ wooden spear wedged into the granite stone for ground support, the beast becomes a victim under his own weight. The element of surprise leads to victory for Judd, as the fate of the beast is met.
It only happens on Friday the 13th as the night begins…
A second beast suffers a similar fate, and word quickly spreads that it's prudent to leave the residents of Castle Canyon alone, for they can now defend themselves.
