1950 #1473WS set on a new track?
Posted by Neo Fender on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 1:19 PM

As mentioned in another thread, I have a Lionel #1473 set from 1950.  Presumably, it is FasTrack compatible.  Santa is bringing a Polar Express set.  Will the old set be OK with the newer, CW-80 transformer or should I stick with the Type 1033 transfomer?

Also will the CW-80 work with the old track and allow me to hook up and operate the older unload/uncouple track section or not?

Thanks.

It will be compatible electrically.  The two types of track will not connect mechanically without some trouble, however.

Hang on to your 1033.  As you might gather from recent posts, the newer transformers' reliability leaves something to be desired.
