165 CRANE REWIRE
Posted by catdoing on Thursday, December 11, 2008 1:06 PM

im rewiring a 165 when i took it apart it has 4 wires coming from motor assembly. on the motor itself it only has 1 wre coming out . on the scmatic it shows two wires coming from motor feild. one of the feild wires is attached to the brush holder .is this correct? its the #3 wire thats missing outer feild. the wire coming from the motor is wound around the brush holder screw. should this be yellow #3?

thanks for any help

I just finished a 182 crane.  The #3 wire (yellow) is the outer motor field, and the #1 wire (black) is the inner motor field.

There is an additional yellow wire (bottom right) is jumpered from the right brush to the screw.

Black #1, and Yellow #3 wires soldered on side of coil assembly.

One more from the top.  You can see the yellow jumper (top right) here.

I used 22ga stranded wire.  I think the Lionel wire will work.
