ERR Sound Commander in RMT Beep
Posted by thankey on Friday, October 10, 2008 9:41 PM

My installation went pretty smoothly in a Beep with three exceptions:

1) There is no prime mover sound at all.  Maybe just a slight burble at startup but no consistent sound is generated.  I operate in conventional mode.

2) The whistle blows using a 1033 but not my LW both of which blow a PW whistle tender just fine.  The Beep is pulling one of their lighted cabooses at the instructions suggestion.  When I press the whistle on the LW, the Beep speeds up and the lighted lock-on gets brighter but no sound.  It works ok on the 1033 hooked to the U-A terminals for 5 - 16v.  When I reverse the wires, I get a bell as per the instructions.  Sound volume is good.

3) The instructions say that you should put a baffle behind the speaker and seal it so it's air-tight but their pictures show an installation without a baffle.  I used a cut down cup.  How does the mass or the air or the length of the air column play into the sound performance?

This seems to be a very good deal for sound, $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping.  But as the Beep only beeps, I'm disappointed.

Can you help?
