From time to time I can work from home, and thanks to AT&T's aircard my laptop works in my

my "train barn", so I can work and run the trains.

That said, there is something to be said for running  plain, old-school, non-sound,

conventional mode engines.

So today on my mainline I have my always reliable K-Line Chessie System (C & O) MP-15 2210

pulling a short freight of K-Lines semi-scale, and classic cars, including the "Keokunk

Canning Company, Pickle and Tomatoe Juice Vat Car".

The upper level has a MTH CNJ 0-4-0 switcher (non proto sound), and a string of CNJ freight cars including an air whistle caboose.

As it's Friday, the LIRR Cannonball is waiting in Union Station for a Lionel/MPC GP-20for it's

4:06 departure to Montauk.

Enjoy The Weekend.

Thanks. Smile [:)] The pics actually didn't turn out as well as I had hoped... but I guess they serve their purpose.

Lionel NYC GP-9 That I just got in Pulling my Pa Railking Passenger cars looks great. I think the best part I like about tmcc is that I can bring the train to a stop at the station and don't need to cycle it to nuetral to keep lights on in the engine and the passenger cars and also don't need to cycle it back to forward to get going again.

I have the SD-90 N/S on stand by incase the NYC gets tired and then the C&O Chessie GP-30 is also waiting its turn Big Smile [:D]

As we now in "Train Season", this is a good time to revisit this post. So what's running on your layout RIGHT NOW ?? My Main Line has an all MPC freight with a 8206 in the lead, Five 9200 series Box Cars in tow, and a Bay Window Caboose. The High Line has a K-Line LIRR MP-15 "Protect" engine with a string of LIRR MOW equipment. Union Station has some of it's regular consists, plus a string of Lionel WC streamlined cars from the 2007 Menard's set. Ken

My layout has two loops; the inner one is all 27" curves, and the outer is mostly 42" except for a few 34" (Marx) curves.

On the outer loop is my newly aquired MPC era SP Trainmaster pulling 1 6462 gondola, 6 6464 boxcars, and a 6517 bay window caboose. The gondola and a few of the boxcars are carrying an assortment of miniature farm animals thanks to my 3 year old daughter. Smile

The inner loop is occupied by Thomas and Annie and Clarabel. The coaches are also carrying an assortment of farm animals.

Sorry I don't have pictures; we were too  busy playing to think about cameras Big Smile

Let's see ...train wise I have 2 short frieghts on the interchange tracks, one is headed by an MTH 2-8-0 and is a five car mik train the other is heade by a K-Line GP7 and is a five car mixed freight. In staging I have my seven car mixed freight headed by an MTH Baby Turbine. I have a four car streamlined set at the passenger station headed by a K-Line Alco A/A set. In the upper passing siding is a Lionel Heaveyweight set ( 4 cars) headed by a Berk also from Lionel. And ready to go in the coal mine is a seven car coal drag headed by a Lionel K4 # 2035. I also have a MTH Doodlebug waiting at the passenger station. There is an A-B-A set of Alcos ( K-Line) and a 2-8-0 (MTH) holding at the engine house. There is also an MTH trolley running on the street car line. And just remembered the Lionel    0-8-0 that is working the yard.

Car wise I have about 37 freight cars at the industries and about 15 in the yard with about 17 on the shelves about the interchange tracks. Also about 8 egines from MTH K-Line and Lionel are up there too.  I think thats about it.

I like this thread. It is fun to see what others run and how it changes. I have a four empty coal trucks from K. Polak Coal Co. waiting on the interchange track - that connects to the Other Railway off the main line. The main line has my prewar red 248 pulling a green 805 box car (for mail / baggage) and its passenger and obs car. Percy is in the coach yard getting his front coupler repaired. The through yard track also has another train consisting of the 'other' Thomas trucks.  Everything else I own is parked further back in this yard on the layout.

Track 2 has Thomas, Annie and Clarabel, and my home-made track cleaning flat. It's interchange track has a long MPC-era train weighted down by two gons full of real gravel.

Track 3 has James pulling the Express which is three K-line SF 027 cars that match his paint almost exactly. James is very happy about that.

The inner loop has a CSL trolley.
Fortner yard has a Penn Centrall log dump car and GTW caboose. A K-Line KCC Plymouth is waiting to switch them outside Baker Field.

It will change even more if any of my not-so-subtle Christmas hints have been heeded. Cool  Has anyone tried loading up the wife's "items from your favorite ebay seller" with your train desires? Mischief

Im running my prized Post war Lionel 2333 A-A and many 6464 boxcars on the high ball line. On the inner loop which has connection to the rail yards is my 681 S-2 turbine pulling either a group of Lionel coal hoppers and a tank car and 3469 log car, or alternatively some old 3000 series box cars. Sometimes my GP-7 is called up for frieght duty in the yards.

I'm going to go for weirdest consist; this has been sitting on a siding for  six months, and gets run occasionally - with difficulty:

10 prewar tinplate freights, some 4 wheel, some 8, pulled by a 2338 GG1, redecorated by a previous owner as Penn Central. A freight with altered couplers makes it work. I just somehow think the late 30's style of the GG1 kind of goes with the pre war 30s era tinplate. I have to run it very slowly, and only in forward, or it derails on my 031 layout.

Hey , another one!

I've got a Prewar 1666 doubleheaded with an 0-4-0 from 1980-something, and tied to a string of modern 0-27 streamlined passenger cars.  (With a little dremeling and some inspiration I managed to put a postwar coupler on the original 1666 tender truck.)

Even though they're almost 50 years apart in age, the two locos share the family trait of going 60 mph at 6 volts, so they make a great team!  And, between the two, the train has smoke AND a whistle!  Despite the prewar trucks on the one tender, we got the consist run really well on the family's Gargraves layout.

 Only 4 pieces.

A Lionel Docksider custom painted Boston and Maine by RGS Trains pulling a Swiss (CFF/SBB) O-gauge tinplate coach (that has Lionel Trucks and couplers).

An RMT Beep lettered for PP&L (Emery Distributors custom run) pulling the 2008 Macy's box car.

Will be adding the 2007 Macy's car later.

I figured with company coming over for Thanksgiving, I would bring out the MTH as the guests (or is it intruders, in the case of my relatives) would get a kick out of Protosounds and the plentiful smoke. So the Main Line has a 2-8-0 RailKing UP Consolidation pulling 3 K-Line UP Streamliners in armor yellow (as I will always say, the K-Line Streamliners are the BEST smaller scale passenger cars). The High Line has a RailKing Chessie System F-7 AA, with a mixed freight including the always popular Lionel Erie Gandola with the Hobo and Cop (in this case it's a modern one from Lionel set of a few years ago). Happy Thanksgiving ! Ken

On my new layout table, I have one loop of O-27 track that is on top of three quarter inch insulation board with grassmat on top of that. I am still buying grassmat sheets to cover up the foam board and that will take awhile though.

I just ran the 8368 B&O F3 with a mixed freight on the main line for a spin, the 2338 GP7 w/ Standard "O" house cars on the upper level, & the 671 with culvert & lumber cars on the industrial line.  I'll probably switch things around on Thanksgiving.
