A friend of mine saw I was into trains and asked for information about a train set he had. Here is a picture
I do not recognize it. I would guess Marx. Can any of you provide information please.

It's a Marx streamliner, #791, based on the Union Pacific M-10005 Streamliner.
According to the O'Briens Collecting Toy Trains guide it is from 1940 or 1948-1952.
There was a similar model that Marx made from 1934-37 of the M-10000 that was about twice the size of the M-10005 model.
I have one of those myself, it currently resides on the top shelf of my O gauge wall display.
The Marx logo can be found on the top of the cab of the power unit.
As with pretty much everything else Marx made, it runs well, just the cars are a tad light and will tend to whip around curves if you apply too much power.
So many scales, so many trains, so little time.....
