Does anyone know if Lionel ever substitued a PRR #6417 porthole caboose for the brown Lionel Lines #6427 caboose in the 1954 set # 1517W? Thanks in advance. -B in B

Because the 6427 was new to the line that year, it's possible as they may of not had the 6427's off the line soon enough. It's unlikely though. It just wasn't Lionel's style to do something like putting a Pennsy caboose in an MKT set. They would of substituted an SP style caboose. In the 60's they would of done something like that. If someone is trying to pass the set off that way, knock off the price and look for a 6427.
