I would like to suggest that Classic Toy Trains Magazine expand its Trophies and Turkeys features to include all the Prewar, Postwar, and Modern era manufacturers' products as to their strengths and weaknesses. I personally feel that layout construction is quite important for the hobbyist, but the trains themselves have a history that bears reading in the CTT pages. I am sure there are fantastic trains made by all the manufacturers, and some duds that would make some great articles. For example, the first Williams and MTH trains, Marxs and American Models are noteworthy trains to compare and contrast.

That might be a good idea but it could also hurt the major companies making model trains today, maybe the article can have some turkeys from past decades in it.

I am sure that people will say that MTH has had its share of duds in recent years but so has Lionel and K-Line. What impresses me most about any company is how well that company stands behind their warrenty and will own up to a problem and fix the problem. Quality is not the big issue but it can make or break a company and keeping the customer happy is important for future sales of your product.

I don't believe anyone making trains today is REALLY connected to the firms that made prewar trains, so let the nuking begin!

But this is a subject that is good for a story every year or two, not a regular item. So let's finish the old stuff before we start on the new stuff.
