Has anyone tried an outside layout with MTH realtax ?

Not sure if the plastic roadbed is UV stabilized or not, and not sure how well the electrical connections would hold up to weather.
If it were me I would go with Atlas, their ties will hold up quite well to UV plus you can solder the rails for continuity.
Try doing a search of this site and the OGR site(mentioned with apologies to Bob, Bergie and the rest of the CTT staff) for "Outdoor O". There has been quite a bit of discussion on this subject in both locations.

I have used MTH realtrax outside on my deck for the past 2 years and had no problems.
Before I screw it down I make sure the contacts are clean and not bent out of shape.
Than I use a dilectric grease used for auto tune ups to coat the contacts so they won't have any corrosion issues.
I use this track from Spring-Fall and take it up for the Winter.
I haven't had any problems yet.Though the track finish has dulled a little.(youcan tell when I add a new piece of track.
Also I don't use switches as they aren't waterproof.
