Being snowed in yesterday I decided to turn one of my buildings into a train shop.

Unveiling the newest motive power who made her debut at the museum last friday:

Spent a little time during friday's run using fluff to quiet down the echo/drumming sound out of some MTH 4bay hoppers, works great and easy to remove if you want to fill it with candy or other goodies for holidays.

ZW Bob:  I like it!  Can you buy Legacy there? Wink [;)]

Doug:  What kind of engine is that?  Is it a repaint?

Laz:  That is quite a quarry.  When was that picture taken?

Perry:  Great stuff, as usual!  What kind of lighting do you use?  Your pictures are fantastic!

John, That is a Lionel Lionmaster D&H Challenger, 4-6-6-4. I have been looking for a Lionmaster Challenger for quite awhile, spent more than I really wanted to but I believe it was still a pretty fair price. The great thing about the Lionmaster series is that they will run on 031 track, doesn't look really great on 031 with the overhang but it will work. It really looked and sounded great with the 25 woodside reefers behind it.

But the best part is since I haul most of my stuff back and forth to the museum it is a BUNCH lighter then the scale size, the scale jobbers are hernia builders.

Thanks,

I use track lighting with 3 bulbs in each track that can be aimed. The bulbs are 2.5" diameter 50w halogen spotlights with a 2000-hour life. They're available at Home Depot --- made by Philips.  I also have on a ceiling fan light in my train room.

Hello Doug:  That is a nice engine!  I was able to find it on the Lionel website.  I am glad it is running well.  Thanks for sharing.

Hello Perry:  I have to get my train room finished!  Using halogen lights in my unfinished basement results in my pictures being too yellow.  Thanks again for sharing.  I really like your layout (and your sense of humor).

John

Awesome depth of field in this photo...makes it so much more believable.  You don't remember what shutter speed you used do you?  Without a flash I'm guessing at least a second or two.

Great photo.

Roland,

You're right. No flash and about 2 seconds. I use a aperture priority mode on my camera with the aperture value set to f8.

Ray, great stuff as usual! Do they sell Goya at Lida's? I love the scratchbuilt produce boxes! I'm going to make some for our farm stand (Don't tell anyone we import the stuff).

Thanks, John,

Each section weighs over 100 lb and was jump tested

My buddy had Lionel trains back in the 50s, joined the Navy and was a helo pilot in 'Nam. Lots of crazy stories he has. Served with Jim Webb etc etc. Did a SUPERB N scale layout with crazy little details, then moved up into 3 rail trains (going the full loop back to his youth). That is why it is so detail oriented.

He had a professional DVD of the layout done and is mailing a copy to me Smile [:)]

Thanks for pointing this one out, Jim.  I missed the pic when I checked this thread this morning.  Mickey does have a fabulous layout.  You guys make me jealous.
