022 switch lanterns
Posted by mdainsd on Sunday, January 20, 2008 11:35 AM

I have several 022 switches on my layout. Out of all of them ONE has a lantern with fluted plastic lenses. All the others are the garden variety with the flat pieces of red and green plastic for the lenses.

What is this oddball one? pre-war? Its identical in all other respects.

I need two of these hoods for a project Im working on. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Most of my 022's have flat plastic color film.  I believe these are the origional pieces.

I did buy some repro's made of molded plastic with round flutings.  These plastic lenses also have burs that weren't cleaned off.

I believe that the fluted ones were made for the O31 switches from about 1995-I don't think that they were for O22s.

Most of my O22 lanterns are repros, and they all have flat plastic gels for lenses.
