2379 Rio Grande F3 Diesel AB Unit. Now I want to keep it.

Hello, 

Made a promise to the wife. She let me purchase aRio Grande set from 1957 from it's first owner here locally. Told her I would a resell and make a profit. Than I got it home on the layout......  Oh Wow. This is the first Lionel diesel unit I ever purchased, everything I have run till tonight has been post war steam. But this is such a nice engine, runs like a dream. Was serviced just a few years ago by our local Lionel tech, he's 93 this year. This engine is such a smooth runner, it pulls dozens of cars with no effort. The caboose holds a steady glow. How can I let it go. OK the Super O track and switches etc can go, but this engine.......

 

Have you ever promised your other half you would, than needed an excuse as to a way out? If so, please share. She's looking for a listing, I'm looking at a long term love affair.

I love to run mine when ever I can. While the latter ones like yours with the vertical motors do run smoother, there is nothing like the growl of my 2333 NYCs (pre-magnatraction) pair pulling cars around the rr.

It may cost you a few dollars but you could put on ebay with a reserve of a few hundred more than there worth like about $2800.00 then tell her that they didn't sell you tried
