Installing a New Pickup for my Standard Gauge 10E!!
Posted by lionel2 on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 4:35 PM
I am going to order my new pickup for my 10E loco tonight.  But one thing that bugs me is that i cannot find one with the lionel nameplate on it.  So i will go ahead and use my original nameplate and just take it off my old pickup and place onto my new pickup.  I wonder if there will be a difference with a new pickup installed?? will it run smoother or get more power??   I looked over my 10E and tried to see how to remove the old pickup.  Looks tough to get outta the motor plates.  Does not have much play in it from side to side.  Because my loco has screws that you can unscrew to spread the motor plates.  So i might just do it that way.  So i dont have to remove any wheels or anything.  Dont wanna risk breaking or bending anything.  So in a few days i will have a response to how the install went and if anyone else is doing the samething the can use this as a reference.  That operating guide book is like $125 on amazon that tells you how to take apart and put back together old standard gauge trains.  So i dunno...i will give it my best.  Thanks.
