Cleaning postwar items with red and silver paint
Posted by DdoubleU on Sunday, November 18, 2007 10:54 PM

I have an old SF 2343 and SUNOCO 6415 that are in need of a good cleaning.  Other than sending them off to a pro, any tips for cleaning these without destroying the paint?

Thanks,

Darrell

Once disasembled try use cool water, then progress to warm water to warm soapy water.  Use minimal force.  I use an old paint brush.  be careful around decals.  If the start to slide back off with the water and reposition the decal, it should be ok.  Avoid chemical cleaners for all but the worst and the ones you'll repaint.  Be careful drying, a hair dryer on cool works good.
