On the subject of postwar, does anybody have any postwar cellebration series cars, engines, accessries, or sets? I myself dont have anything but a few pw accessories, some 151s, 394s and 154s.
On the subject of maintnence, I heard that the grease sold during the postwar period tended to harder over time, to the consistency of concrete. (I in fact read this on the trains.com website) Is the current grease sold by Lionel still cheap or of better quality?

There is a conspiresy Out there in the O gauge world it is called On30 I have had my train buying section of my brain implanted now I must buy a deisel or two from micromark reg. $110.00 on Sale for $39.75 can't resist On30 by the way is a two rail system where O scale models run on ho track which is pretty close to a scale 30 inches wide in O.
Now back to regularly scheduled 3 rail O transmissions
Grayson,
Looking for a topic. Let’s talk maintenance.
Just like safety in the workplace, this is a subject that needs repeating. I’ve read bits and pieces here and there on this subject, but still have not found all the right answers. I only own Prewar Lionel and Marx, as well as Postwar Lionel, Marx and AF. They all need service.
Let’s start with a simple, and plentiful 2025 Lionel Postwar engine. I have one that needs a complete rebuild and refurbish, It's very sluggish, as well as the tender, whistle is mute. What products, cleaning solutions, tools, or anything else does one use to return such an engine and tender to like new performance? And than, how does one keep it that way?

Yea, but eZAK still needs to change his subject, as well as Alex, and you back to "Grayson's Caboose".
eZAK wrote:The return of the Zekester is upon us!
eZAK, please edit your post and change the subject back to what it should be. This is a place to talk about trains and such, and not zeke, im not having this. This will just make people not come to this thread, and make them mad, and we will have hundreds of posts about zeke. Now stop this, or else...... or else......... I set fire to my caboose!
Thanks Alex.
has anyone added or worked on their layout lately?

Possibly both. Brass Yard Tower by Weaver (Purchase). Construct a Girder trestle with strip brass. (Build if practical)
What's the big advantage in brass?

Good morning guys,
Well the plan for the day for me is more packing and moving some items over to the new house. The wife has off today and will be doing some cleaning. I can't wait to get moved in and start on the new train layout.

Any idea what the advantages/disadvantages are? Also I am starting on the Christmas Layout, and I need to make a 54"R gider tressle with only 4-5 supports to go around the tree, 30-inches above the floor w/ tubular track 'cause I still want it to look like a toy train around the tree, and I need room to put the presents under/around.I'm waffling about steel, brass or laminated and bent wood strips, but haven't quite arrived at a final idea. I don't have a metal shear, but I can bend a 54"R circle easy enough, and I'll work out the web stiffeners either way.Thoughts?Kurt

............................................................ Ok Kurt, aint you like a ex-architect now? Asking all these question that you should be answering youself??? just kidding Kurt, I have no Idea how to do any of that, guess I need to go to the model train college, maybe somebody will come along and help you with that.
So, lets talk about the advantages and disadvantages of tubular and fastrack..... I mean the quality of Lionel made, MTH diesels and steam wouldent still be ticking after 60 years for poswar and 80 years for prewar like Lionel's are.
Good Morning Kurt, whats on my mind? Nothing really, besides I hope this thread gets as popular as the Pot.... . Well, seriously its going to the hobby shop today as well as outback for lunch. . We need a good topic to get this thread going, maybe somebody can create one, Im out of topics, tubular and fastrack is now gone, everybody hates arguments about it.....
OK Grayson...You've blasted with the white stuff, I wouldn't say long enough, but for a good bit, I'm sure more will follow... Notice I didn't say G... almost.
So, what's on your mind. It's your thread... What do inquiring minds want to know?

As long as you dont talk about grits, any track user or train user is allowed.
Not even if you used dried grits for track ballast?

Isn't there a caboose thread on the OGRe website? Watching South Park reruns since the wife and kids are out right now - boys are trying to lose a baseball game so the season will end, but the other team has the same plan! Ha - who will "win" this one?
"Morgan - don't swing only if it's a strike!"
This is funny, because it's true. When I was in 7th grade, we had a coach who decided the season had gone long enough. We were one game out, so he took out the first string and put in all the benchwarmers about the 5th inning. That was that.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Just to clearify F.R.E.D = Flashing rear end device and E.O.T= End of Train so I was talking about trains and making fun at the same time.
Better to talk about Grits than to talk about SCRAPPLE wrong forum. Have eat both scrapple and grits.....ok but not a big fan of either. What we need is a crave case from white castles and some of thier coffee great to soaber up on
You do know that the caboose was made obsolete by FRED and his EOT
Reading T-1 wrote:If you really want to get this thing goin all you need to do is talk about which is better MTH or Lionel.
Which is better yall, MTH... or Lionel!!!
Exactly Keith! This thread took off in just under an hour! Frank, come on over and talk about the reedeeming qualities of fastrack... oops I mean tubular, and postwar lionel!!!
Yes, Bob K, grits and coffee (with plenty of sugar and cream ) go good together!!!
