Works in progress ..if the picture links work!

I'm having trouble because I forgot the picture posting routine or maybe I'm using the wrong site?

Anyway the following links are to two pictures up at Shutterfly.

The loco being rebuilt in the shed being 'rebuilt' that is the model of a loco shed in the process of being made larger.

I hope this works

Hey thor,

It looks good on the outside, but I'm not quite sure what it is...... An engine house perhaps? What is the lego-looking contraption used for?

Hello Thor:

I really like the rafters! Are the legos providing some sort of function?

Thanks chaps! Sorry I'm a lousy photographer. Well I'm not THAT bad but I rely too heavily on Photo Shop to touch up my shots and this laptop doesnt have a paint program.

The Lego machine is a single cylinder stationery steam engine driving an overhead lineshaft that will power some machinery.

I got the idea from reading about the 'Back Shop' up here at this forum and thought what a great idea.

The engine shed - thats what it is - is (according to my make believe railroad line story) a small chapel that is being converted into an engine shed. Hence why one side is open and 'under construction' but of course the real reason its like that is to reveal whats going on inside.

I covered the Lego 'cylinder' so it looks like a cylinder (its really two wheels) and I'll cover more of it so it looks like a boiler and flue and not like a load of Lego. It really works and drives the lineshaft, well it only does because there's a Lego motor concealed in the roof that drives the lineshaft but the motion looks pretty convincing.

I'm searching for a suitable source of small machine tools or I'll make them but what I'd really like to do is acquire some Mamod model machine tools and eventually a Mamod steam engine to power the 'shop'.

So anyway, the story so far is, the railroad company acquired a scrap American Atlantic and they are busy converting it into something more English looking. The General Manager won't let them wait till the workshops are finished, he's insisting that the builders and mechanics can work around each other, because there's a deadline to get the trains rolling before the investors start clamoring for new management.

Ya, just gotta have the touch, I guess. Nice fish!

Really you must use the square brackets [ ] to make it work. Many of us that post photos from Shutterfly paste the photos code into the reply box, then highlight with the cursor the code and then hit the "Insert Image" button. (The little yellow button to the left of the # sign when you use the post new reply. You don't see any of these buttons if you use the quick reply.)

I don't know about the Great Lakes, but I'm heading to Canada at the end of May and I normally limit out on real nice walleye. Great eating, too!

Nice job, thor! I love it! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished results of this project. By the way, I knew that the Lego was a stationery steam engine before reading your post saying so. Being able to use your imagination to create something like this is one of the things that makes this hobby so enjoyable.
