Skirting the issue

Yesterday my wonderful wife finished hanging the final panel of material of skirting on our train tables. Nearly three bolts of material, well over 200' of Velcro, hundreds of staples from her NEW Stanley electric staple gun and too many hours to mention. She enjoyed every minute at the surger & sewing machine and now the train rooms are done, what a difference it has made, now it looks complete. I know the pic's don't do it justice but thought you might enjoy seeing our progress.

Your wife did some incredible work on those skirts. One can see that a lot of time and effort went into making them and applying them to your layout. Outstanding effort.

And I agree, you are lucky to have her.

That looks great! It really focuses ones eyes on the layout. I bet it has reduced the noise in your trainroom too.[:)]

Jon- Your wife did do a fine Job for you & as the others have said; You're very lucky to have her as a wife.BTW- You can have a speaker under your layout with a recording from the Wizard of Oz; "Don't Look under there,The mighty Oz commands you do not pull back the curtain" (Skirt) You can have a lot of fun with this.[;)][:P][:D] Take Care.

Excellent craftsmanship by your wife. That really gives the layout a great look. Not a lot of wives around who can run a serger and sewing machine. My wife put them up after the girls seniors prom. Maybe I can talk her into getting them back out, after showing her these photos. A couple that plays together………

Jon, Great work by your wife, and you. After having seen your past layout photos, I'd say you and your wife make a great team. I am trying to foster the same relationship with my bride. She loves the Dept. 56 and similar villages, and I love the trains, so maybe we can make it work as you have.

That looks spectacular! You must be very proud of your wife and I bet she feels the same about you. It looks like she is quite a talented seamstress. It is fun to do things together as a couple.

Thanks guys for all the nice comments about the recent improvements to our train room. We both have just had a great time working on the layout, whether it's been building bench work, coming up with track plans, placing buildings or simply agreeing on ideas--we've just had fun. When we were first married we sailed competetively as a team and really enjoyed that sport, even up to two weeks before our first son was born. Now our energies go to bicycle riding, the train room and in about six weeks we will welcome our first grandchild, how about that for "the circle of life"! I'm thinking that toy trains will be with us for a long time[:)]

You are a good example to many. I love doing things with my wife and that includes biking. I am looking forward to the nice weather so we can travel to some biking trails.

Thanks Tom, that means a lot to both of us. It seems that when we are running on all 8 cyclinders it's when we are working together, whether it be working in the train room, working outside, riding bikes, cleaning the house, skiing, etc., it's all about working together for one simple goal and communication. The toy trains have always been great fun for us and the tangible results are so rewarding. What a great hobby.
