Trains and Locomotives

To all the Cincinnatti and Lake Erie RR fans, or those who just like old trains, RFD will be showing a episode of Trains and Locomotives on the C&LERR from the 1930s the earlier part of this week. Wish I had TiVo, but do plan to watch.

Darianj,
RFD is RFD-TV, it is a television station on satallite TV. I am not sure if any cable stations carry it, but you should check. They have a number of good shows and several having to do with trains.

I had to work this afternoon and missed a good portion of the program, but what I did see of it was great. It will air a few more times in the next day or so. I hope some of you were able to take in the whole thing.

This is why I sprung the $130 to have DISH networks DVR installed on Friday. It works great!

I watched "I Love Toy Trains" with my lunch, and will watch "Trains & Locomotives" today!

Are you guys telling me that with a dish, I can get all of this trains programming? We don't get squat on the local cable. We don't even get the PBS programing about trains. [:(!]

Yeah, satallite is sooo much better than cable in my opinion. Seems that the cable company comes to town, offers great deals to get you on board and then slams it to you. We have had Direct-TV for almost 5 years and I think we had one rate increase of about $1.50. While so many around me have fuzzy reception on cable, we have crystal clear pictures and very good programs. Check out the different satallite companies, Direct-TV, Dish Network, etc and see what kind of deals they have and what programs they offer.

It was a very interesting show; it was all about the C&LE's interurbans. When I first tuned in, I didn't think it was going to be all that interesting, since I'm not a big fan of trolleys/interurbans - BUT - when you start to watch all of that old footage it just kind of sucks you in. And those things hauled! I think they said they operated at speeds up to 90 mph. There are some scenes of them blasting through the countryside at a very high rate of speed. Since this was all before my time, I never knew that these things even operated outside of citys. I received quite an education from this program. Very highly recommended. [:)]

I watched as they buzzed along at high speed, I kept waiting for one to jump track as a lot of the trackage did not seem in great shape. It was amazing the comfort level that they had, much better than taking the bus.

I'm new to this list and new to the hobby. I had american flyer when I was about 10. Now that I'r retired, I've purchased severl AF steamers. Anyway, does anyone have any information on how to trouble shoot the universal motors? How can I bench test the armatures etc.

It's a good show they have other train ones too like the Train Show which is on tonight. By the way RFD_TV stands for Rural Farm Delivery TV.

Hey guys, another channel that has train related shows, 1 that I know of is DIY. On Saturday night, they have a program called "Workin on the Railroad" it is mostly HO, but does have a good bit on scenery and some other items of interest.
Goalpost, As Clint suggest, starting a new thread will be better for getting you some answers. There are several contributors that I know run AF trains and could answer any questions you might have. By the way, welcome to CTT Forum[#welcome] I know you will enjoy this crowd.
