I'de say buy it if it looked nice, but this depends highly on how feasable it is.
I would pass on a modern bullet train or the current engine that Amtrack uses today, that is decorated for the Wabash RR./ Nickle Plate, PRR, but I would certainly buy a Big-Boy, Challenger, and maybe even a 90-Mac, decorated for the same railroads.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna daydream about a dark blue Big-boy with a bold white stripe, outlined by 2 red pin-stripes-- down the side for awhile.......

Ok, snapping outta my daydream, it might be nice, but I doubt the mass-market would swallow that one very easily.......I don't think the manufactuers would make much money from that idea.

I own a Pennsy FP45 in Brunswick green.PRR never had any FP45s,but it really looks good! The Pennsylvania Railroad was still around when the FP45s were built.I would not buy a PRR Dash 9 or SD70M.

What a deep philosophical question. Ultimately it would come down to my mood and the thickness of my wallet at the time. Even though the selection of engines has greatly improved for O gauge over the last 15 years, there are still plenty of models yet to be made.

I wonder if the mindset of the manufacturers will ever change to something more like that of the HO manufacturers. By this I mean having a model continuously available in a variety of paint schemes more along the lines of Athearn. I suppose they won't simply because the demand isn't there. O gauge is a different world, though Atlas and Weaver are less like Lionel, MTH and K-line in that regard.

I would vote, but I can kind of assume by the engine models, that we are probably talking full-scale models. If they were traditional or non-scale models, like the Railking early version F3, now we be talking!

I laugh too when I think back to reading the product reviews on that early Railking F3 which every review had to point out that it was less than scale - duh! That was the point!! Railking locos at one time were traditionally sized! It's kind nice to have one or possibly 2 non-scale length locos available.

I have K-Line S-2's and Alco FA's in lots of non-prototype roadnames. Nevermind that lines like the Lehigh Valley who owned a lot of S-2's had retired them totally by 1963, I think. It's doubtful the Norfolk Southern or CSX has S-2's running, but I do. I have 'em in Jersey Central (early and late schemes), Reading, Lehigh Valley (every scheme they ever made), Conrail (early and late schemes), CSX (all major variations plus the MOW scheme), Norfolk Southern, several variouns of New Haven, and Penn Central. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

I'd love it K-Line would take the Santa Fe war bonnet scheme Alco FA and put BNSF in large red letters on the side... not only is that a prototypical paint scheme, it gives the modelers who have space limitations an engine with at least a modern road name.

I can't remember what road had what engin. I buy what I like since I run it on my road and on my road things ar the way I say they are.

Now what I would realy like to see is a SW type switcher painted in the Missouri Pacific / Union Pacific color scheme ( Union Pacific colors and labeled Missouri Pacific ). Any engin painted this way for that matter and yes they did exist.

Hey Shaw I did already do this. I bought 3 DD40s or DD45s for my HO layout. Never made in the real world, but I like them big, and these are big.



I just like trains and as long as they run, I am not that particular to what is running.
