A fantastic train layout. Who has seen it in person ?

The place is awesome. Besides trains, there is moving ships, cars, two parades, a talking farm, just an amazing layout. [:D]

I have not seen the LEGO layout of San Diego, but they have a big LEGO layout of Columbus, Ohio that travels all over the state to fairs, train shows, and festivals. The buildings are really neat.

While I have not seen it in person I have heard that Legoland and all that it offers is one real cool place. If I ever get back to San Diego we will have to go there. My son ( now age 25) is still a Lego addict so you are correct in so far as its not just for kids. When one speaks of San Diego and trains I thought you were going to mention the fabulous San Diego Model Railroad Museum. Thank You for posting some additional San Diego train stuff. I lived in San Diego for 19 years ( U.S. Navy ) and loved it. Both my son and daughter were born their. We lived in North Park for a few years, on Alabama St., near the original Frank the Train Man. Then we moved up to Ramona. There are a lot of wonderful memories for me out there.

I am currently living in SD for Grad School. I went to this park last summer with a friend's 9 year old who my wife and I showed around for a week. It was really very impressive.

This last fall there was a report on NPR's "Marketplace" that Lego was trying to find a buyer for it's themeparks. I never heard anything else about it.

Haven't been back to LegoLand for a couple of years, it is a very impressive achievement when you consider what everything is made of. For about 8 weeks, before and after Christmas, there was a Lego Club layout at the museum that got a lot of attention. Now there is a modular S group setting up in the museum, don't know how long they will be there.
Frank, Frank The Trainman is still there, different owners and a half block down from the original building but the original sign is still there in it's original spot.
I'll be at the museum friday, so if you happen to be out an about stop in and say hi. [|(]

I've been there several times with my children. Each time I go I pick up on some additional detail that I didn't notice before.

haven't actually seen or been to LEGOLAND, though my wife took her 4th grade class there for a science project that they do. However Roland , who used to do the repair work for Frank the Trainman now works out of his home in Santee. He only works on pre and post war Lionels ( and I suspect Marx).

With as large a population base as there is in the San Diego area doesnt it seem strange that there are no repair facilities. [:(]
