  To answer the locked post, if you are running post-war or non-command control modern trains, it does not matter which way the terminals are hooked up. If electronic bells, whistles and horns don't operate properly , just reverse the terminals. No harm done.

The TAC2001 is an oddball. Here is the manual explaining that common ground can't really be used:

 

 

 

I have found by some tinkering that the right tab(looking at the back of the transformer) of each of the Track 1 & Track 2 throttle connections seems to act as a common to/with the "A" tab, so you can use B, C, & D to get accessory voltages for track activated accessories.
