Here are a couple WIP shots of my latest project; converting a 945 work caboose into a camera car.

Phase one:  Building a new and larger toolbox out of styrene and old model tank parts from my junk drawer.

The tool box, as you can see, has a removable top so it can serve as the battery compartment for the camera's power supply.

Phase two will be to mount the wireless mini-cam inside the caboose shell.   The idea will be that I can either run the car ahead of a train in order to get track shots, or run it at the back of the train for action shots of the train itself.

Oh, and phase three will be to build an actual layout to run the train on.  That one could take awhile...

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

Stebby,

Had you given any thought to maybe mounting the mini-cam in either the nose or the the cab of a diesel dummy?

The club has our track powered camera mounted in a BUDD car

Great photos all.

Be back later with some photos I hope.

I have been collecting pieces and here is the start of a street scene.  There will be a large hole in the street when finished.

I did, but own neither.  Since I had to buy the car to convert it, the caboose was the cheapest option.

Stebby, I hear ya on the budget. That's why 95%+ of all my stuff is from the secondary market, bottom line dollars rule & preferred road name is secondary.

Only one good photo from last friday, D&H Lionmaster Challenger rounding the curve with it's string of woodside reefers.

Later all !

stebbycentral - Great project.  I can't wait to see some footage (once the layout is built). I made a camera car from an old boxcar a few years back and love running it.

I promise to use my trains for good, not evil.
