Xmas lights on rolling stock?

I'm, well, new here!  Pretty excited about my PE arriving soon.  I've searched around for awhile but haven't seen anything related to this topic - perhaps it's just something so "silly" no train-serious-minded person would bother... anyone ever put scale Xmas lights on their lighted rolling stock?

Couldn't you drape something like a string of tiny dollhouse Xmas lights, powered in parallel with the stock lighting system?  I think scale lights would run at 12vDC or less...

Funny little idea, what do you think?

I have put Christmas Tree lights on rolling stock.  Specifically on G scale running outside, but........

I found this necklace at a Bob Evan's in Breezewood, Pa two years ago and knew it would work for my station.  It runs off of hearing aid batteries and it blinks on and off.

 

At Christmas, Lowe's sells strings of lights for the Dept 56 type of structures.

I as well as some others use the battery powered mini-lights that are generally available starting in the fall. Sometimes you mite have to be a little creative in hiding the battery pack, thank goodness they're small.

Christmas lights are fine; but I don't think you will get very close to scale.  A C-7 lamp, which is about as large as Christmas lights go, is only .018 inch in diameter in 1/48!

Ah - I hadn't even thought of a battery powered set.  The durations they'd actually be on during the season wouldn't burn through the batteries very quick.  Perfect!
