I wondered if anyone knew of an O-scale Timken boxcar that was or is being produced?? I really like that item and haven't been able to find any in O-Scale. I'd prefer not to get the Willaims boxcar, if it's even available. Looking for a PS-1 type boxcar or something similar in size and detail. Dep

If you mean a boxcar with the Timkin logo/paint scheme I don't know about current but K-Line had some Timkin cars offered with the K-Line collectors' club a number of years back. These were "O", I don't know about scale.
Chuck: My fault. I wasn't clear enough. I am looking for a PS-1 O-scale boxcar that looks like this:

Yep...that's what I meant. Gotta be scale though. I'll keep my eye peeled on Ebay. Thanks!!!
No problem on the confusion.
I checked some of the on-line sources and the car was issued as a traditional car by Lionel back in the 50's/60's and re-issued by MPC in the 70's. K-Line also did a traditional sized version and Williams has the unusual sort of scale version. I also checked MicroScale and Champs for possible decal sets. Sorry, no luck.
Weaver seems to have made a custom run of a "roller freight" boxcar for Petersen Supply; but it is red and white, not yellow:

I see two things strange about the car in the picture: The trucks appear not to have roller bearings. And the letter "M" in "TIMKEN" is a mirror image.

Chuck; Thanks for checking all those sources. I really appreciate it. Bob: I went to the Peterson Supply website. Heck, I like that orange one even better!!! But alas, they seem to be out of production. I did find a nice Western Pacific feather boxcar that I may grab from them. Thanks again guys. I sure appreciate it. I'm gonna keep an eye peeled on E-Bay and maybe I'll get lucky Oh yeah..no idea about the lettering thing on the Timken in the picture. It's off Ebay and I think it's a postwar 6464 Lionel car.Dep
MTH also did a Railking version back in 2003. This is a link to a discussion re a possible prototype and a link to a photo of the car:

There may be some of the artwork in railroad adds from the 40's/50's that could be used to make a decal set. Maybe in back issues of Trains magazine?
WOW!!!! Here's the photo. Never knew this was a real car!!!
Timken is headquartered in Canton, Ohio. I used to see Timken cars in a small train store in North Canton about four years ago. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the store, but they had several Timken cars.

Pretty sure that the store Buckeye is referring to is named "Trains and Toys" now. I think it was named "Trains and Things" at one time.
Phone Number is 330 499-1666 which is quite interesting.
Just called Peterson Supply after getting an e-mail that they HAVE the scale Timken boxcars in stock!!! Talked to Andy Peterson, a really nice guy. He told me they had 14 left in stock. They came in 3 different road numbers, so I ordered three of them. Big thanks to Bob Nelson for the heads up on the Peterson run of these cars. I owe you Bob If anyone wants a scale Timken boxcar, Peterson seems to be the best source. They are down to 11 now after my order. They sold out on the yellow version, so the orange is the only one left. Here's the link to their website:http://www.petersensupply.com/
And here's a pic of the boxcar:
BTW...Andy gave me the choice of plastic or diecast trucks. I went with the diecasts right away.

Check this out!!! This is a REAL advertising poster for Timken roller bearings. Does the boxcar look familiar????
I'm glad the story has such a happy ending!

I have a locomotive that looks uncannily similar to that! It is an ETS model of a CKD T234 painted for CSD that I bought in Prague. It was built for 2-rail DC but now does 3-rail AC. It pulls two 4-wheel boxcars, one painted for Budvar (Budejovice Pivovar), the real Czech Budweiser, not the Belgian imitation that is sold here.
I was poking around at Western Depot for Timken stuff when a search produced the loco. They also had a couple of 027 Timken hoppers, but I passed on them. This loco will look neat pulling my three Timken scale boxcars I have a similar one with NYC markings on it.
