Here's the new Lionel UP GP-7 that I've had for a couple of weeks now, pulling a string of age-apropriate freight cars that I've been assembling for a while(most recently thanks to Jim's Train Shop and his great specials).

This really is a great model. The details, sound, and operation are top notch. I've never seen an engine that could run so slowly and consistently without any trouble whatsoever. I've even run it once or twice with the CAB-1, and it still operates exceptionally(although not as good as under Legacy).

Brutus & Mooz,

For a relatively small engine those things are a real work horse. But what I find funny about the set was that it came with freight cars but it comes standard with PS2 passenger sounds. Confused [%-)]

I did pick up the Overtons and the presidential car as well, sometimes it will have all freight, all passenger but most of the time it will have at least one Overton and three or four freight. Approve [^]

For you guys going to York this year, how about beating Wolfie about the head to make some period appropriate passengers for these. There are none that I have found that will fit. Sad [:(] These cars seem to have sold like hotcakes.

Great pics everyone! I really like that Scout looking Pere Marquette train you've got Doug Smith!

I've een messing around with arranging autos and crossing signals this past week or so. Here’s a few shots I took:

Thanks for looking,

J White - I like your 027 layout too.  Real nice!  I see that you are running your track on roadbed.  Do you plan on ballasting your track or is this to quiet the running train?  I have been thinking about adding ties and ballast to mine but have been reluctant to try it until I feel certain that I won't be making any track connection changes.

The Pere Marquette loco on my layout is an old 2034 Lionel Scout that I found at a train show for $10 and the tender for $5.  The 2034 is one of the better Scout engines, it has a cast metal shell and headlight.  After cleaning it up, it ran great but the shell was a real mess so this was my first attempt at repainting an engine.  I took the paint off with paint stripper (real messey) and sprayed on the silver and satin black.  The Pere Marquette wording is an inkjet label and I added music wire handrails.  I plan on trying decals or rub on letters in the future.  The bobber caboose was origionally a very toylike Lionel bobber caboose.  I cut it down vertically by about 3/8" to make it look better with 027 stock and repainted it with acrylic paint.

This summer sure has gone fast and by the end of the year I will have been on both coasts.  Here is a link that shows many of the trains and models I have seen this summer.  Some good train music, too.  ENJOY, but be warned there are 160 photos set to music.

The roadbed is going to stay the way it is; no ballast. I'm going for a very toy like look, and i think the stained cork fits in nicely. The different shades of cork stillshow through the grey stain. My photography skills aren't good enough to get a clear picture of that though Blush [:I] I am planning on adding the rubber ties from 3r (see their add in CTT). I called them a few yearsago and asked for a sample and they sent me half a dozen or so (about enough to do one track as I recall) and it really looked nice. I'm also holding off in case I change my mind on the track plan.

The 2034 has been on list of enjines to get for awhile now.  I had one in my hand once, but got a little sticker shock  from the price the seller  gave.  Must have been a rare variation  Big Smile [:D]. Looks like the perfect engine for around the tree to me.

Thanks for sharing the details on that 2034!

Good evening all,

A nice batch of pictures today.  It's been quite a while since I posted pictures, hope to post some once Fall sets in. Smile [:)]

Jim, are you using mosture resistant dry wall?  Why the different colors?

David, That is a real nice looking layout and the cabinet work shows some real workmanship. I also like your homemade backdrops that you described in another thread.

Apologies to those I didn’t mention by name but I find it very difficult to remember all the posts when I start to post a reply.  I do wish the CTT powers would consider using software like the Zealot forums use that lets you see all of the prior posts while posting a reply.

I also have one of the MTH ten wheelers but in PRR flavor with the passenger cars.  I peopled them with 50s vintage passengers to match my layout time period and just assume it is an excursion train. Mine seldom leaves the layout either, as it is a favorite of the granddaughters, who love to run it.

Great Photos guys!

Brutus:  Lookin' good!  A few more sheets...  I recommend packing up those trains, and relocating them out of the area, until the mudding and taping drywall dust settles.  Even the dust can form a paste.  Those trains will be gonners.  I had a couple of slide light switches go bad because they were installed before the dust.

Ben:  Great looking Geep!

David:  I like the scene with the Milk car, and have been looking for a 027 sized wood sided caboose...great ideas.

It's been a long time, had an adventure with h0 in between, but back with the good old 0 gauge.. I've done some experience with switching layouts though and possibly rebuild my layout with that knowledge..

For now some pictures from the Shed County RR..

MTH GP38-2 on the canyon side of the layout.

Shot taken from the canyon postal service side.

My old Lionel 2353 crossing the eagle canyon

The Lionel Berkshire across forrest road trestle..

I'm now working on a new trackplan, got some 072 switches on ebay and I'ld like to drop the pre-worldwar 2 märklin switches in my next layout. They give a lot of stalling engines or false horn/bell commands. They've simply had their best times. Maybe re-use them in some staging or fiddleyard, but not on the mainlayout anymore.

Thanks for the welcome back guys, h0 has been fun, the small layout it also still there in the spare bedroom, but it's all so flimsy and small.. I missed the sounds and the roar on the metal track, luckily I hadn't re-used the trainroom yet..
