Im really interested in the Bodie Benton RR in the Sierra Nevadas in CA. Ive been to Bodie many times and am fascinated with the scenery and history. I have been trying to get more info on a 0-4-2 T they used. There seems to be only one picture and its a very strange little engine. Any input would be appreciated.
From the book Mining Camp Days by Emil Billeb, the 0-4-2T saddle tanker had 12x16 inch cylinders. He says all 4 of the B&B engines were built in 1880 by the Union Iron Works in San Francisco. The engins did not have numbers, the 0-4-2T was named the Bodie. The author was the general manager of the RR.
