It was less than ten years after these photos that me, my brother, and one or two friends all about aged 10-13, plus my father, were walking these very platforms as a GG1 was uncoupling from a baggage car.  A trainman jumped up from between the two, looked at me and asked if I liked trains. I said yes and he said wait right where I was; he dissapeared back to the GG1 and came back, handing me a PRR kerosene lantern.  So why am I a railfan? And a GG1 fan?  And an afficianado of Penn Sta. and the  PRR?  Lantern still works, too.
