Thanks to henry6, I have determined that I want to model Erie around 1950. I am looking for color pictures of passenger locos in that era with (I think), a pullman green body with yelllow stripes and a front herald. I have one such picture but it is too far away to tell and seems to have a central gray area on the sides?
Can anyone post or point me in the right direction to find them on-line. I am also going to try the library but am not looking to buy any more books, if possible.
Thanks.
Erie had two diesel schemes in the 1950's..
"Black & Yellow" (the freight scheme)
"Two Tone Green" (the passenger scheme.)
I believe only E-units and Alco PA's ever wore the 2-tone green..everything else wore black & yellow..(Alco PAs wore both schemes, but E-units never wore black & yellow, only green.)
here are some pics, first, Black & Yellow:

(notice that Alco PA, in the link above, is actually wearing an EL diamond on the nose and on the side! which indicates its after 1960 and the unit is now EL..but thats still the original Erie scheme)
even though the 2-tone green is considered the "passenger scheme" note that the Alco PA's wore both schemes while in passenger service..so in some instances Black & Yellow was also used in passenger service..
Im not exactly sure why the PA's wore both schemes..I will see if I can dig into that..I have some Erie books that might give some insight..I will report back if I find out anything..

Scot - thanks so much for taking the time to post those links! It really helps and looks like I should stick with Black and Yellow as I have an EMD F3A&B units to model. Bummer as I really liked the green and yellow.
Please let me know if you find any F3s colored that way.
