Alstom problems with Acela-2 acceptance.

Subject a little late as most info on News Wire.  However News Wire becomes stasle ratheer quickly.

Here is an article from Olean Times Herald news.  Unfortunately it quotes Alstom that it has sent a number of AX-2s to Amtrak.  However Alstom neglects to admit that the units were sent to Amtrak for storage but not accepted.

What do you want to bet the issues are related to Amtrak changing the specs all through construction.

Not aware of the FRA crash standards having been changed in a willy-nilly basis and if the manufacturer doesn't even come up with a computer simulation to demonstrate how their design exceeds the FRA standards - that is not on Amrak.

Sorry about that I guess I am doing too much multi-tasking and need to slow down a bit more.   I just sent a stock purchase order today to my HOA Property Manager.......ha-ha.....oops!

Might start with checking the December 2023 issue of TRAINS  on page 7 ...

The artricle "...Report details problems behind launch of new Acelas..."  The   accompanying photo shows a train yard (Phila.Pa);  with a number of new Acella sets; parked.     These sets were part of a 2016 order for a$2.45 Billion dollar  order for N.E.C. corridor train sets.....

eems that there are 'issues' with these train sets; problems dealing with no builder blue prints (?) and various changes and alterartions during  manufacturing(?)  Builder was Alstom in Hornel,NY.

Same issue TRAINS [page8] Details re-trucking @ Trego,Wi. of the 1935, Budd -built,n for CB&Q ofthe Mark Twain Zephyr ..... Following a 3 yr long rebuild by the forces of the Wisconsin Great Northern RR.

"...Guess they just don't build 'em, like they used to..."

P.S. It sure seems like the management of AMTRAK will never learn, as long as they can keep getting their 'preformance' bonuses?

Did Amtrak make the blueprints or did Alstom?  Your hate of Amtrak is blinding your view of the entire situation.

I know that news reporters are not the most informed but a lot of times when I see a news clip or news report on these new trainsets they usually refer to them as nothing more than a reskinned French TGV.     Is that true?

Google "Avelia Liberty" and come back here if you still have questions after that.

US standards for rail passenger vehicles are not the same as the French have for the TGV.  Amtrak doesn't make the standards, they just have to comply with them.
