Have friend whose hubby is  retired UP hostler, he never applied for a pass because he was thinking he would never use it.   They did not even know each other at that time.  She wishes  he had as she often comes down to visit on River Runner to St. L and she lives near KC and it would be free for her. But too late now, he missed the deadline many years ago. He never wants to be around trains now, they ground him down so bad on the job that he wants no part of it.  Sad. My Dad loved his job at Frisco, died at 61 and never got to retire,

I have AMTRAK pass privilege on former BN line trains only, which is Chicago to Denver or Chicago to Seattle/Portland or Portland to Vancouver, BC.

The pass has been used a few times.

At the time Amtrak was created I was issued a 'pass' for use on Amtrak.  I have no idea of what I was authorized to use it on, or how much transportation I was authorized to use.  Never used it.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
