Does the new Viewliner II roomette have a window for the upper bunk?
Still in training.
Yes, they do.
“Things of quality have no fear of time.”
Yes, and they're also about 10 inches wider than the Superliner version, with enough headroom to sit up in the top bunk.
Shrike, do you give the Viewliner II roomette overall good marks?
Like: because of the car shape, the VL II roomette is a little under a foot wider and taller than that on the Superliner. It also has much more storage, a window for the upper bunk, and the person in said top bunk can sit up.
Dislike: the only bathroom in the car is in your room. This is fine if you're solo, but unreasonable for couples (no, neither of us was willing to go number 2 in front of the other, much less endure the resultant smell).
I think there are more ups than downs, but the cars still feel like they were designed by a committee of people who have never actually ridden a train. I do think, however, that having WiFi on eastern trains and not on western ones is Byzantine and, frankly, ferociously stupid.
Viewliner: B-. Adequate. Room for huge improvements.
Superlined D-. Cut the cars up for scrap.
I thought the new Viewliner II sleepers didn't have the in-room toilet. Were you in an older one?
