Overmod My understanding was that the WU trucks were somewhat more fragile in service, and more expensive to repair. I also had the impression the WU trucks were 'kinder' to the track in some respects than the GSI design -- I think they have lower unsprung mass and more defined lateral control.
Thanks! I was hoping someone with an engineering background would respond.
As a matter of interest, what type of engineer are you or were you, i.e., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.?
Your extensive knowledge suggests that you spent a lot of time working for a railroad or a consulting firm that had a lot of railroad clients.

JPS1 Amtrak’s Superliner I cars ride on Waggon Union trucks. The Superliner II cars ride on GSI trucks. Other than design, what is the difference. I have been on both cars. I don’t feel any difference.
Is that good or bad?
