Frankly, I am just happy the trains will continue to run!

+1 Dave.  And another +1 for a bringing in a fresh breeze in a thread of tedious cynicism.

we are now in a country where 'the truth is not the truth'

ROFL!  Yeah....I'm likely growing more cynical with age, but I've come to conclude that it's  probably always been that way,  it's just that with pervasive media coverage,  we are now just more aware of the way those in control operate.

Reading the News Brief on page 11 of Trains' November '18 issue, it now appears that Amtrak is specifically "calling out" the veracity of Trains magazine's reporting of this topic. To which Trains magazine has now countered, in print, that they stand behind their original reporting.

Who do you trust more?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In written testimony at last week’s congressional hearing on positive train control, Amtrak backed away from earlier statements indicating it would not operate on lines without PTC. The written testimony by Scot Naparst...
