The point is well-made. There was a story on WMAQ-TV recently about multiple grade crossing blockages in Barrington when a CN train stalled on the former EJ&E line. An overpass for US 14 has been proposed but nobody wants to spend the money.
Northern Illinois folks finally waking up to realize that the rail lines in their backyards could be designed more efficiently but they aren't going to be happy when the study shows them the cost of fixing the lines with flyovers instead of crossings at grade........over a simple siding to park and wait.
