If it hauls passengers or hazmat, it has PTC equipment or the train doesn't run. Period. (and boy is that starting to cause havoc as the dimestore lawyers find out there are no exceptions.)

Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west

How will PTC affect the Amtrak Auto Train P40 TIGER rebuilds?  I understand the P40s braking systems are more suitable for the freight-like consist.

Shouldn't make any difference at all.  A penalty brake application is zero brake pipe pressure at a service rate.  Doesn't matter what brake equipment locomotive has installed that much - just where you install the magnet valve.

Whatever PTC Amtrak installs on these locomotives must be compatible with the PTC installations that CSX and Sun Rail are installing.  The route from Lorton to Sanford will all be PTC territory.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
