I have to wonder if there are two stories that have been crosslinked somehow. This article title clearly indicates a resumption of the kind of 'maintenance blitz' that took place last summer at NYP/'Moynihan', but the actual linked text refers to rebuilding the Empire Connector, north of Penn Station tower A (and it would have been far more sensible to have provided that as the title, as the subject has been discussed in previous threads here).
Why was the reason for the cessation of 'all direct Pullman service between New York and Chicago' not addressed more directly in the story? This was the specific reason for interest in "restoring FL9s to service" as previously discussed, and we now know what option Amtrak decided
