I hope the dining car stewards were able to replenish their stock along the way so they did not have to open cans of beef stew--or whatever they do when they have more meals to serve than were planned.

I remember that the northbound Coast Starlight's steward had to buy food in Chemult, Oregon, 28 years ago when a freight train was derailed in one of the tunnels across the Cascades--so he could provide dinner for the passengers (we reached Seattle  ten hours late).
