Chief and Zephyr detours 5/24/18?

Seems like SW Chief #3 and CAZep #5 tonight are on the old Santa Fe main from Chicago to Galesburg showing around Joliet right now.  Does not sound good.

I asked for the status of #5 at Galesburg- and at Burlington-and the information was unavailable.

I wonder if there is still some sort of station or platform where the Santa Fe station was in Galesburg.

Hello... Amtrak re-routes today (5/24/18) due to a minor BNSF freight train derailment at Aurora, IL @2:30pm. Eight cars derailed at roughly the junction where the Aurora Subdivision (C&I Line) diverges from the Chicago Sub in downtown Aurora. No injuries, minor damage; cleanup should be quick. Metra service isn't affected.

Well, long night for 3 and 5, Amtrak track map shows them southwest of Joliet, now that they got BNSF pilots for the territory, this at 12:25 am CDT.  Boy, an Excedrine headache for sure.

Well, today, 27th May, #5 Cal Zephyr apparently will be, in the words of Wilbert Harrison, goin' to Kansas City thanks to a BNSF coal train derailment west of Ottumwa, then back north to its regular route, I guess.  I guess the ATK folks need to wash down that Excedrin with some Maalox.

Today (5/28) the #6 Zephyr used the UP West line.  It came through around 5:30 with a UP pilot engine.

Well, 6/5/18 has chiefs in both directions in a bad way due to a BNSF derailment on the Seligman Subdivision in the afternoon affecting both mains.  No word but chatter on the web suggests WB #3 held or terminated at Winslow.

Actually you can see WB #3 on the Flagstaff, AZ webcam. Apparently it has been there since last night. The chatter is that there are two separate derailments west of Flagstaff in AZ. Here is a link to the Flagstaff camera:

I now hear that #4's passengers are being bussed to Flagstaff where #3 will become #4. BNSF power will then take the new #4 to Albuq. where it can be turned and then proceed with Amtrak power.
