Surprised to see old Charlie Rangel on the Penn Station Task Force.
Excerpt from MTA press release, June 12

[Former] Congressman Charles Rangel: “This aggressive mitigation plan will help ensure New Yorkers’ commutes are as efficient as possible during Amtrak’s emergency repair work this summer. The MTA, together with the Penn Station Task Force, worked hard to develop a smart action plan that delivered for New Yorkers and put the needs of our commuters first. We will continue to hold Amtrak accountable to repair their aging infrastructure and ensure that we have the 21st century transportation network New Yorkers deserve.”

blue streak 1Well LIRR has released its schedule for the period. One item in announcement that did not know. It states longer trains during the rush hour. Why in the world didn't LIRR always run maximum length trains during rush hours ? That would have meant longer intervals between trains causing less delay possibilities, http://nypost.com/2017/06/11/penn-station-commuters-file-lawsuit-against-mta-lirr/amp/

My heart is bleeding for the $297 a month the prime complainent is spending for her New York commute.[/sarcasm]
If she can commute to NYC more reliably and cheaper she is welcome to do it. That doesn't mean there aren't problems on this line but the law suit should be laughed out of court at it's first hearing - if not before.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Maybe MC can give us an idea of how much these one off items will cost and how long to build ? Also is there any backlog ?
