Perhaps more appropriate for its clientele would be to name sleeping cars after famous retirement communities, thus Sun City, Leisure World, etc.?

Better than the alternative for the Florida trains:  Forest Lawn, Arlington, Garden of Memories, etc. Surprise

One of the heritage diners is NP (NCL) Budd 1958. I would watch #25 (afternoons) or #26 (early morning) stop at the switchtenders territory at Northtown and then continue on. I got paid to watch trains!!

Flatulance is good---don't hold it in!!

So the "Heritage Diners" are now gone?

What did Amtrak plan to do with them?

It looks like there are ten capital cities where Amtrak does not travel and more cities further west could be added. These could give hope and goals for the future.

On 48 today, food service is so so bad. The food not so bad, and crew was friendly. The lounge car / diner lacks a certain elegance.

Aren't Augusta and Atlanta both in the state of Georgia?

Yes, but Augusta, Georgia is only the golf capital of the United States.

(It would be fun to see a series of cars named after famous golf courses, but wouldn't that be perceived as 'too elitist' for Amtrak?)

From a post on the Viewliner II thread: AugustaAtlanta, Annapolis.......

Interesting...VIA also has a dining car Annapolis.....a 1954 built Budd Stainless Steel car that can be found on the Canadian and named for a dining room in a Canadian Pacific Hotel....not a capital.

Names of the new AMTRAK dining cars
Posted by NP Eddie on Thursday, June 1, 2017 6:02 PM

ALL:

Does anyone know the names that are or to be applied to the new AMTRAK dining cars? One is named Indianapolis. Am I correct to assume that they will be named for state capitals?
